Our Philosophy

We believe childhood deserves more than a schedule. It deserves attention, beauty, and a village of people who notice every small moment.

β€” Karen, Founder of WeVillage
3-Step Development Framework

Bloom. Nurture. Brilliance.

Every child begins life in a safe, serene, and expertly guided environment β€” and grows into a confident, curious learner.

β€” Step 01

Bloom

"Every child's journey begins with understanding."

We carefully observe each child's unique personality, strengths, and challenges. By noting behavior, communication, social interactions, and even nutritional habits, we give parents a clear picture of the pluses and minuses that shape their child's growth.

β€” Step 02

Nurture

"Fueling growth with nutrition and learning."

Once we understand each child's needs, we provide the right fuel for healthy development. Balanced nutrition supports strong bodies and brain function, while sensory play, music, storytelling, and problem-solving build memory and focus.

β€” Step 03

Brilliance

"Confident, curious, ready for tomorrow."

With strong foundations in place, children thrive. Personalized learning plans encourage independence, creativity, and problem-solving. By the time they leave WeVillage, children are ready not just for kindergarten β€” but to flourish.

Where the WeVillage journey begins.

A serene, expertly-staffed environment where the youngest learners are held, observed, and gently introduced to the wonder of the world.

Caring adult with baby
Our Approach

The first 1,000 days matter most.

Research is clear: the experiences a child has in their first 1,000 days shape the architecture of their developing brain. At WeVillage, this isn't an abstract idea β€” it's the lens through which we approach every interaction, every meal, every nap.

Our Infant, Wobbler & Toddler program is designed around the science of early development and the art of secure attachment. We move slowly. We watch carefully. We respond with warmth. And we partner deeply with parents.

From the gentle morning greeting to the careful documentation of your child's day, every detail is designed to honor where your baby is β€” and prepare them for where they're going.

What Makes Us Different

Beyond a daycare. A village.

Low Caregiver Ratios

Our infant rooms maintain 1:3 ratios β€” well above state minimums β€” so each baby receives individualized attention.

Daily Family Reports

Detailed daily updates on feeding, sleep, diapering, milestones, and beautiful moments throughout the day.

Reggio-Inspired Sensory Play

Open-ended materials, natural textures, soft music, and gentle light stimulate brain development.

Mindful Nutrition

We partner with parents on feeding schedules, accommodate breast milk, and offer thoughtful first foods.

Serene Environments

Soft natural light, calming colors, and intentional design create spaces that feel like home.

Mindful Transitions

From Infant to Wobbler to Toddler room β€” each transition is gradual, gentle, and individually paced.

Common Questions

Answers for new parents.

What ages does this program serve?

Our Infant, Wobbler & Toddler program welcomes children from 6 weeks through 24 months across three age-based rooms with transitions paced to each child's individual readiness.

Do you accommodate breastfeeding moms?

Absolutely. We have a comfortable, private nursing space available and carefully store breast milk according to safe handling guidelines.

How do you handle naps and sleep?

Each infant follows their own sleep schedule β€” we never wake a sleeping baby. Toddlers have a designated quiet time after lunch with soft music and dim lights.

How will I know how my baby's day went?

You'll receive a detailed daily report covering feedings, diaper changes, naps, mood, milestones, and special moments β€” plus photos via our parent app.

Discovery-driven days filled with sensory exploration, language-rich play, and the beginnings of independence β€” for the most curious learners in the village.

Toddler with learning blocks
Our Approach

Where curiosity meets capability.

Between the ages of two and three, children make some of the most dramatic developmental leaps of their lives. Their vocabulary explodes from a handful of words to thousands. They begin to understand themselves as separate, capable beings.

Our Early Preschool program is designed to honor this extraordinary stage. We provide just enough structure to support emerging executive function β€” and just enough freedom to let the child's natural curiosity lead the way.

Spanish songs, sensory tables, art experiences, gentle social problem-solving, and the beginnings of self-care β€” all woven into days that feel joyful, not academic.

What Makes Us Different

Designed for the twos and threes.

Language-Rich Environment

Teachers narrate, describe, and converse all day β€” building vocabulary through naturally embedded language.

Spanish Introduction

Daily Spanish songs, greetings, and storytime introduce a second language during the optimal acquisition window.

Sensory Exploration

Daily sensory tables and art experiences support brain development and lay the foundation for academic learning.

Toilet Learning Partnership

We follow each child's readiness and work closely with families on a consistent, patient approach.

Emerging Social Skills

Turn-taking, conflict resolution, and empathy through guided social play β€” the foundational skills for school success.

Ready not just for kindergarten β€” for life.

Reggio-inspired curriculum and daily Spanish immersion prepare children for kindergarten with confidence, creativity, and joy. The crown of the WeVillage experience.

Preschool classroom
Our Approach

The preschool years are not preparation. They are life.

The mistake many preschool programs make is treating ages three to five as a runway β€” frantically loading children with academic content to "prepare" them. We take the opposite view.

The preschool years are a developmental stage as important as any that follows. Children at this age are building their identity, their relationships, their creativity, their executive function, their love of learning. Get those right, and academic success follows naturally.

Our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach treats children as competent, curious, capable researchers of the world. Our Spanish immersion bathes them in a second language during the optimal acquisition window. Our project-based learning lets children dive deep into the topics that fascinate them.

What Makes Us Different

An education with real depth.

Daily Spanish Immersion

Native-speaking teachers integrate Spanish into daily routines, songs, stories, and play.

Reggio Emilia Curriculum

Children direct their own deep-dive projects with teacher guidance β€” investigating real questions.

Kindergarten Readiness

Pre-literacy, pre-math, social-emotional skills β€” all developed through play and projects.

The Hundred Languages

Art, music, dance, drama, building, and storytelling as core curriculum β€” not extras.

Nature & Outdoor Time

Daily outdoor exploration, gardening, weather observation, and nature-based learning.

Strong Teacher Relationships

Lead teachers stay with classes across years when possible, building the deep relationships that make rich learning possible.

A village built on intention.

WeVillage isn't just a preschool. It's a thoughtful community where families find their people, children find their stride, and childhood is treated with the reverence it deserves.

Our Story

It started with a simple question.

"What if early childcare felt as thoughtful, beautiful, and intentional as the rest of a modern family's life?"

WeVillage was founded on the belief that early childhood deserves more than a checklist of activities and a brightly colored room. Children β€” and the families who love them β€” deserve environments that feel calm, beautiful, and deeply considered.

From our flagship in Sherman Oaks to our newer location in Portland, every decision we make is filtered through one question: would we choose this for our own children? The answer must always be yes.

What We Believe

Our values, lived daily.

These aren't aspirations. They're the standards we measure every decision against.

β€” 01

Children are capable.

We treat every child as a competent, curious person worthy of respect, real conversation, and meaningful experiences.

β€” 02

The environment teaches.

Inspired by Reggio Emilia, we treat our spaces as the "third teacher." Beauty isn't aesthetic β€” it's pedagogy.

β€” 03

Slow is better.

We refuse to rush childhood. We protect time for boredom, repetition, and deep play.

β€” 04

Parents are partners.

You know your child best. We see ourselves as your partners β€” sharing observations, asking questions.

β€” 05

Whole-child, always.

Academic readiness matters, but so does emotional regulation, physical confidence, and creative expression.

β€” 06

Diversity strengthens.

Our families come from all backgrounds. Our village is stronger because of it.

The vision behind the village.

Karen founded WeVillage on a single, stubborn conviction: that early childhood deserves more than what conventional childcare offered.

Karen's path to WeVillage began the way most parents' paths begin: with a small person who changed everything. As a young mother in Los Angeles, she searched for a place that matched the care she wanted to give at home β€” and found that the choices in front of her felt either institutional or unaffordable, beautiful or pedagogically weak.

Drawing on her background in education and her conviction that childcare could be done differently, Karen opened the first WeVillage to create the place she wished she'd had. Sherman Oaks became home base: a thoughtfully designed space where Reggio Emilia-inspired learning met warm, expert care.

"I built WeVillage because I refused to choose between beautiful and meaningful, between flexible and rigorous, between care and education."

Over the years, WeVillage grew. The 3-Step Framework β€” Bloom, Nurture, Brilliance β€” evolved through years of careful observation. Spanish immersion was added. FlexCare emerged. A second location opened in Portland.

What hasn't changed: Karen still walks the floors. She still knows the children by name. She still personally interviews each family. She still asks the same question β€” would I choose this for my own child? And the answer, every time, is yes.

"This work is sacred. We're entrusted with children during the years that shape who they will become. I never forget that."
